On the 30th of October 2003 the annual DJ Mag Top 100 awards ceremony was held at Turnmills in London. The DJ Magazine 'DJ Top 100' award, the new annual DJ top 100 of the world was announced. Tiesto has achieved what no other DJ has ever before. For the second year in succession he has won the title of "best DJ in the world". Earlier in the week he also picked up two Dutch Dance Awards in Amsterdam. Tiesto received the DJ Mag award from the legendary DJ Sir Jimmy Saville. This first ever host of the BBC’s Top of the Pops.
Last year, Tiesto was the first non-UK DJ to reach the number 1 spot on the list. This year he is the first DJ to reach the number 1 position two years in a row. Previous winners include DJ's like Paul van Dijk, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia and John Digweed
It is the 9th time that the award has been handed out. The Top 100 was first published in 1993 and is the list used by promoters, club owners and organisations to determine who will be the most appreciated artists for their crowds. The reason why it is so highly regarded, is that the list is completely unbiased and compiled entirely by votes from people all over the world. It is also the most respected, valued and feared DJ chart in the world.
Tiesto was very happy with this recognition for his work over the last year. "For me, it is a crown on my work again. I feel honoured that the domestic and global people support me this way. For me it is a big motivation to keep on entertaining and surprising the people in the future." The world’s number 1 DJ hasn't much time to celebrate as he is back traveling to his next show. Tiesto went on to say "This year I wanted to receive the award myself. Last year I also have been touring in the United States and couldn't be there. Fortunately I got another chance this year." Tiesto specially interrupted his tour in the United States to receive his awards.</font>
